Another UKREiiF has wrapped up, and after a busy stint in Leeds the Beard team is heading back to the office with fresh ideas and insights.
Pre-Construction Manager Luke Bennett, Head of Frameworks Matt Leach and Special Projects Manager Martin Pomroy attended the three-day conference, regarded as the UK's leading event for the real estate, property and infrastructure sectors.
The programme was full, and this year again showcased the strength, resilience and energy across the built environment. Despite challenges facing the industry, optimism was evident throughout the week.
Martin Pomroy, Special Projects Manager, said: "Leeds once again delivered the perfect backdrop for bringing people, projects and ideas together. If there's one thing that stood out this year, it's the sheer energy across the sector – despite the challenges, there's a real sense of momentum building."
A recurring theme was the shifting benchmark for what successful development and construction looks like. Sustainability is now non-negotiable, social value must be meaningful and measurable, and the Building Safety Act continues to reshape how projects are designed and delivered — together driving higher standards across the industry.
Several reflections stood out for the Beard team. Relationships still matter most: while panels and keynotes were valuable, the most impactful moments often came in conversations between sessions — over breakfast and in the margins — underscoring that construction is a people-centred industry built on collaboration and trust.
There is also a stronger emphasis on delivery, with discussions moving from ambition to the practicalities of funding, planning and partnerships required to bring schemes forward successfully.
The importance of place is growing too. From regeneration to infrastructure investment, towns, regions and local identity are increasingly shaping long-term outcomes.
s colleagues supporting from the office — and looks forward to continuing the conversations in the months ahead.
