Kier Pledges To Support 2,000 Young People Through Youth Guarantee

The infrastructure, construction and property group says the effort is aimed at reducing the number of young people not in education, employment or training (NEET). Plans include outreach through its Kierriculum programme, providing work experience to help entrants move into the sector, and upskilling via skills bootcamps.

Kier will also step up work with Youth Hubs to share advice on routes into work and employability skills, offer designated jobs guarantee placements with clear pathways to apprenticeships, and create new apprenticeship roles, including in digital and AI.

The company intends to harness its nationwide supply chain to boost participation in these activities and give young people additional support and specialist guidance towards careers that suit them.

Stuart Togwell, CEO at Kier Group, said: "Attracting young people into Kier and into our industry is essential to building a sustainable future. The construction and infrastructure sector needs fresh perspectives, digital capability and new skills, and young people bring all of that and more. By offering high quality early careers routes, meaningful work experience and long term opportunities, we're not only strengthening our business, but helping to widen access to good jobs. That's why we strongly support the Government's Youth Guarantee – it aligns with our commitment to ensuring every young person has the chance to gain skills, confidence and a foothold in a rewarding career."

Further details on opportunities at Kier are available via the company's careers site.
