Caddick Construction Completes New £27m Moya Cole Hospice

Construction News Image

Caddick Construction has finished work on the new Moya Cole Hospice in Heald Green, providing a modern environment for inpatient and outpatient care, alongside bereavement support for families across Greater Manchester.

The £27m development, situated within the Cheadle Royal conservation area, consists of two buildings joined by a corridor. The facility includes a 27-bedroom inpatient unit equipped with Photovoltaic panels to improve energy efficiency. The site also features a "Being You" centre for outpatients, dedicated family support areas, overnight accommodation for relatives, a café, and administrative and training offices.

Formerly known as St Ann's Hospice, the facility was renamed in memory of founder Dr Moya Cole OBE. The project was funded in part by the "Build it Together" appeal, which saw the local community raise more than £2m through public donations and fundraising.

Caddick Construction's North West team contributed significantly to the appeal, donating a total of £95,000. Their fundraising initiatives included a charity golf day, a 220-mile cycle from Llandudno to Cardiff, and a group climb of Snowdon involving clients and supply chain partners. Additionally, funds were raised through a Christmas Jumper Day across the firm's regional offices and sites in 2025.

Rachel McMillan, Chief Executive of Moya Cole Hospice, commented: "Throughout the project, Caddick has demonstrated a professional and collaborative approach to delivering the building. They have helped us bring a long‑held plan to completion, and we appreciate the part they have played, alongside the valuable contribution of our architects, PRP.

"We would also like to recognise the work of Genr8 Developments LLP as project managers and all the valuable work from a huge number of individuals, suppliers, agencies and specialist consultants who have made this possible.

"Now that the site has been handed over, we are preparing the hospice to welcome our first patients and their loved ones very soon."

Dave Saville, Regional Managing Director of Caddick Construction North West, said: "We're extremely proud to hand over the new hospice to the team at Moya Cole, marking the completion of this very special project. The vital care and support this development will provide the community has always been at the forefront of our work, ensuring it is delivered to the highest standards.

"The staff at Moya Cole are more than just clients to us, and I'm proud of the support our team has demonstrated, both prior to the commencement of work and throughout the project, with their dedicated fundraising efforts. It gives the whole team a huge sense of pride to know we have played a part, both on and off site, in ensuring Moya Cole Hospice can continue its crucial work."
