Coffey has secured the contract to deliver works at South Kilworth Sewage Treatment Works (STW) in Leicestershire under Severn Trent's AMP8 investment programme.

The scheme is designed to help the works meet tighter discharge permits and to tackle historic dry‑weather flow constraints at the site.

A central element of the upgrade is the adoption of natural coagulant dosing, building on successful trials. According to the project scope, this will be the first permanent installation of the solution.

The natural coagulant approach is intended to provide a cost‑effective option that reduces the need for tertiary solids removal processes.

The wider scope of works includes new inlet arrangements; flow control and balancing infrastructure; ferric dosing; laboratory facilities; associated civil engineering; and mechanical and electrical installations.

Delivery is scheduled to begin in mid‑May, with collaborative activity already progressing across design, procurement and construction phases.
