Jones Homes Yorkshire has appointed Tom Dixon as its new Head of Technical, a strategic move as the housebuilder moves towards a total transition to low-carbon technologies. Dixon, 39, joins the Cleckheaton-based office with over two decades of construction industry experience, including a six-year tenure as engineering manager at Miller Homes.

In his new capacity, Dixon will lead a team of four, overseeing the engineering, planning, and architectural aspects of all regional developments. A primary focus of his role will be managing the deployment of air source heat pumps across all upcoming sites, ensuring the company meets the requirements of the Government's Future Homes Standard.

The Yorkshire division is already progressing with these environmental targets, having recently completed its first development using air source heat pumps in Golcar, Huddersfield. The company is currently seeking planning permission for over 450 new homes across seven different sites in 2026, all of which are planned to feature air source heat pumps, with larger detached properties also receiving underfloor heating.

Tom Dixon, who lives near Leeds and began his career as a trainee engineer in 2005, said: "At Jones Homes, we are ahead of the curve as the industry focuses on the changes needed to meet the requirements of the Future Homes Standard, which is designed to reduce carbon emissions in the drive towards net zero. Jones Homes has made the decision to move away from gas boilers completely to the more environmentally friendly alternative of air source heat pumps.

"As a region, we have recently completed our first development which utilises air source heat pumps at Golcar, Huddersfield, and are looking to secure planning permission on more than 450 new homes across seven sites in 2026. All homes at these developments would be heated with air source heat pumps, along with underfloor heating in larger detached homes.
