Amey has run another successful Journey to Work event in Trafford, teaming up with Trafford Council to help local residents take steps towards employment.

Held at the St John's Centre in Old Trafford, the session was aimed at Trafford residents who were unemployed and referred through the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), alongside people being supported by the Trafford Jobs Club.

Attendees received CV‑building support and one‑to‑one career conversations with Amey's senior leaders. They were also able to review live vacancies — including roles in grounds maintenance and street lighting — to understand how these jobs help keep communities safe, clean and well maintained. The discussions enabled people to explore role requirements, ask questions and consider how their skills could transfer into roles at Amey.

Colleagues from Amey's local services shared their own career paths, outlined current projects across Trafford and showcased the breadth of opportunities available nearby. Through informal conversations, they explained how their work underpins day‑to‑day infrastructure — from keeping streets well lit to maintaining green spaces and public areas.
