The UK roofing market is wrestling with severe supply constraints, with a survey by MRA Reports published in Builders' Merchant News finding that 79% of specialist roofing merchants face difficult lead times. In some instances, contractors are waiting 52 weeks or more for concrete roof tiles, causing costly delays across projects nationwide.
Against this backdrop, FP McCann has moved to increase capacity and breadth of supply through major investment and targeted acquisitions. The company says it can now provide its full range of concrete roof tiles on 1–2-day lead times, helping customers keep builds on schedule.
Central to the strategy is a £40 million, fully automated concrete roof tile plant at FP McCann's Cadeby site in Leicestershire. The facility can produce 90 million tiles a year and is 100% powered by solar panels. It manufactures the firm's core profiles at scale — including Thin Flat, Duo Thin Flat, Square Top, Double Roman and Round Top — underpinning dependable availability while lowering the products' carbon footprint.
The portfolio has been further strengthened by the acquisition of the Leighton Buzzard roofing business, adding in-demand profiles such as SL8, Gemini and Centurion. Leighton Buzzard provides additional metric tile capacity of 30 million roof tiles annually, with Gemini and Centurion lines also offering 30 million each per year. FP McCann says it will continue producing both its existing ranges and the newly acquired products with no planned changes, giving contractors and developers continuity of supply.
To deliver a complete roofing package, FP McCann also purchased Easy-Trim Roofing and Construction Products Ltd in January 2026. Based in Lancashire, Easy-Trim is a UK manufacturer known for innovations including lead-free flashing and user-friendly dry-fix systems. Bringing Easy-Trim into the group creates a single, compatible source for tiles and accessories, simplifying procurement and ensuring performance.
"While the wider industry is grappling with supply chain bottlenecks, FP McCann has taken a proactive approach. Our continued investments in innovative manufacturing technology and sustainable practices – such as our state-of-the-art solar powered Cadeby facility – are designed to future-proof our operations. By combining this with extensive stockholding across our expanded product range, we are ensuring that our customers have immediate access to the high-quality tiles and accessories they need, exactly when they need them." said Simon Smith, FP McCann's Roofing General Manager.
FP McCann says these moves demonstrate a long-term commitment to the UK roofing sector, with further developments expected in the coming months. While some suppliers are quoting waits of up to a year, the company states its concrete roof tiles and accessories are in stock and available within 1–2 days.
