First Families Move Into New A-Rated Homes As South Cerney Regeneration Advances

The first households have begun moving into newly built properties at Berkeley Close in South Cerney, marking a major step in a £26m regeneration led by Bromford Flagship LiveWest (BFL).

The project is replacing 56 outdated homes and 21 garages with 84 modern, highly energy-efficient properties. Initial completions are being handed to 'returners' who lived on the estate before the 1960s blocks were demolished. All homes feature solar panels, battery storage, air source heat pumps and electric vehicle chargers, delivering an EPC A rating; stored solar power can be used later to help cut bills.

Amanda Swann, Regional Director for New Homes at BFL, said: "The families moving back in today left their old homes trusting that what we'd build for them would be worth the wait, and I think when they walk through the door, they'll see that it was.

"The standard of these homes is outstanding, and a lot of that comes down to the brilliant working relationship we've had with EG Carter.

"These are among the most sustainable homes we've ever built, and I'm really proud of what we've achieved here."

The development offers a mix of one- and two-bedroom bungalows and flats alongside one- to four-bedroom houses. Of the 84 homes, 65 are for social rent and 19 for shared ownership, helping to meet strong local demand for affordable housing.

Phase one is on track to complete in September, with phase two due to begin later this year. The build is being delivered by Gloucestershire-based, family-run E G Carter, extending a long-standing partnership with BFL.

Mathew Vye, Residential Director at EG Carter, said: "This is a really important milestone for Berkeley Close and, most importantly, for the families who are now able to move into high-quality new homes.

"Working closely with Bromford Flagship LiveWest, we’ve focused on delivering homes that are not only well built, but future-proofed, highly energy efficient and designed to support long-term, sustainable living.

"We're proud to be playing our part in regenerating this community and bringing forward homes that will make a genuine difference to residents' lives."
