The redevelopment of Coventry Airport has moved a significant step closer after Warwick District Council unanimously approved detailed plans for the £2.5 billion GreenPower Park project.

The decision grants permission for seven large-scale manufacturing facilities, ranging from 69,000 sq ft to 1.5 million sq ft, with a combined footprint of 4.8 million sq ft. This latest approval builds on an outline consent issued in 2022 for a major battery manufacturing plant, adding full details on building designs, site layouts and landscaping.

GreenPower Park is being delivered through a joint venture between Coventry City Council and Rigby Group. The development aims to establish a hub for battery innovation, advanced manufacturing and clean energy, with the potential to generate up to 6,000 jobs.

The site forms a key part of the Coventry and Warwick Investment Zone, where businesses can benefit from a package of tax incentives, including relief on business rates and Stamp Duty, as well as higher National Insurance thresholds.
