Steel Frame Complete At Eston Precinct Redevelopment

The redevelopment of Eston Precinct has reached a significant construction milestone, with the steel frame for the new retail scheme now fully installed.

Esh Construction was appointed by Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council in June 2025 to deliver the project, which will create 14,600 square feet of retail space across seven new units. The scheme is designed to revitalise the area, improving both retail provision and the overall look and feel of the precinct.

Following the demolition of the previous structures and the start of main works in January, construction has progressed rapidly. Foundations, including reinforced concrete bases with holding down bolts, have been completed. A total of 85 tonnes of steel was then installed using a 100-tonne crane to form the building’s structural frame. The steelwork has since been aligned, levelled and secured, with protective column encasements added to ensure durability and stability.

Grant Watson, Construction Director at Esh Construction, said: "Completing the steel frame installation marks a major step forward for the redevelopment of Eston Precinct. This milestone reflects the hard work and strong partnership of everyone involved, and it's exciting to see the structure now taking shape.

"With the frame now in place, we can confidently progress onto the next stages of construction and continue delivering a scheme that will bring lasting benefits to the local community and much needed retail space for the town."

Work has also progressed on site infrastructure, including the installation of an attenuation tank and drainage systems. In the coming weeks, roofing works using a Bauder system are set to begin, alongside the installation of new foul and surface water drainage connections on the adjacent road. Substructure brickwork is also due to start, enabling further progress on the building envelope later this spring.
