Peckham Rye Park Adventure Playground has reopened to the public following a £574,000 refurbishment.

The redevelopment project has been underway since 2023, with input from playground users and local community groups helping to shape its design. Final plans were completed in 2024, before surveys, planning approvals and contractor procurement were carried out in early 2025.

The refurbishment saw outdated and unsafe equipment removed and replaced with new, modern play features aimed at providing a more adventurous and interactive experience for children and young people.

Families gathered recently to mark the reopening at a community event, where they had the opportunity to meet playworkers and register new members.

The playground is open to young people aged 8 to 15, and up to 25 for those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), with a parent or carer required to attend registration.

Councillor Ellie Cumbo, Cabinet Member for Cabinet Member for Parks and Culture, said: "We're delighted to reopen Peckham Rye Park Adventure Playground and welcome young people back to a much-improved space. This project has been shaped by the community, and it's fantastic to see the new equipment in place after the old structures had to be removed.

"Adventure playgrounds are a vital part of growing up in Southwark. They provide young people a safe place to play, build confidence and make friends. We look forward to seeing families enjoying the new space."
