Dockray footbridge in Kendal will face time-limited closures across seven working days in April while essential maintenance is carried out.
The programme involves replacing selected anti-slip panels on the timber decking of the bridge over the River Kent, alongside minor, localised repairs to areas of corroding metalwork.
The bridge will be closed on Thursday 9 and Friday 10 April between 8am and 5am. From Monday 13 to Friday 17 April inclusive, it will be shut between 9am and 3pm. These timings are intended to avoid disruption for schoolchildren accessing The Queen Katherine School.
Cllr Peter Thornton, Cabinet Member for Highways and ICT, said: "This is a well used and popular link for residents of Kendal and, as always, we have balanced the need for this essential maintenance while keeping disruption to a minimum. We have timed this work to start in the Easter holidays and further work will not impact on pupils going to and from school."
