Work Begins On Second Phase Of Berwick Green Housing Development

Groundwork has begun on the second phase of a major housing development in Bristol, as the first stage nears completion.

Housebuilder Bellway has completed almost all of the 256 homes included in phase one of the Berwick Green development in Cribbs Causeway, with 95 per cent of properties now finished.

Construction teams have now started work on infrastructure and foundations for the second phase, which will deliver a further 153 homes.

Meanwhile, work is continuing to complete the remaining properties in phase one, along with public open spaces which are expected to open this spring.

Rachel Way, Senior Sales Manager at Bellway South West, said: "This is excellent progress in our drive to deliver much needed high-quality homes for people in the Bristol area.

"Starting on the ground in a new phase of a major project such as this is a landmark moment and the sight of work forging ahead on a new area of the site is very exciting.

"Berwick Green is a highly significant project because it is creating hundreds of contemporary, energy-efficient homes in a very convenient area near Cribbs Causeway shopping park and major road links including junction 17 of the M5.

"A broad range of properties are being built for people at different stages of their lives and with varying requirements and budgets and we are already seeing how the new community here is becoming well established."

The first phase of Berwick Green includes a mix of apartments and two, three and four-bedroom houses. Of these, 64 homes are affordable properties available through low-cost rent or shared ownership and have been handed over to housing association Sovereign Network Group.

The second phase will feature two, three and four-bedroom homes, including 47 additional affordable properties. The first of these homes are expected to be completed in the summer, with the first private properties due to be ready for residents later in the year.

Bellway first began work on the Berwick Green development in 2022. The project forms part of a wider scheme that will deliver around 760 homes to the north of Cribbs Causeway.
