Persimmon Homes South West has secured planning permission from East Devon District Council for 92 zero-carbon ready homes beside Cranbrook's town centre and school on the outskirts of Exeter.

Sixty-one of the new properties have been approved in full, while the remaining 31 will be subject to detailed approval before construction can proceed.

Just under a third of the homes will be delivered in partnership with a housing association, aimed at helping to reduce the district's housing waiting list.

The development will include biodiversity measures such as animal boxes and hedgehog highways, along with new public open space and additional tree planting to create a greener neighbourhood.

The Cranbrook Plan, adopted by the Council in October 2022, sets out the expansion of the town to accommodate around 20,000 residents, ensuring the necessary amenities and services are in place. It also requires low-carbon development and contributions towards key local infrastructure.
