Bellway Breaks Ground on Sustainable Development in Four Marks

Construction is now officially under way at Mount Royal Gardens, a new 60-home development by Bellway located off Lymington Bottom in Four Marks.

The seven-acre site will provide a range of one to four-bedroom homes, with a significant 40% of the project dedicated to affordable housing to meet local demand.

The development, which received planning approval from East Hampshire District Council last year, has been designed as a sustainable extension to the village. Each property will feature energy-efficient gas boilers, electric vehicle charging points, and solar panels. Bellway expects that approximately 25% of the site's total energy demand will be met by renewable energy generated on-site.

Jon Rance, Sales Manager for Bellway Wessex, said: "This site offers a wonderful opportunity to create a highly desirable place to live in an attractive village location on the edge of the South Downs. The development has been carefully planned to include open space, tree-lined roads, a dedicated place for children to play, and cycleways and pathways that make it easy for residents to get around without taking the car.

"The mix of private and affordable homes along with the varied range of house sizes and styles means there are many options for people on different budgets and with different requirements."

The 24 affordable units will consist of 17 homes for affordable rent and seven for shared ownership. Beyond the housing, the project includes significant public green space featuring a central play area equipped for children aged four to eight. Bellway has also committed to retaining existing trees wherever possible, supplemented by a comprehensive new planting scheme.

The first homes at Mount Royal Gardens are scheduled for release this summer, with the initial phase of properties expected to reach completion by winter 2026.
