Heavy-Duty Vertical Logistics: The Alimak Scando 650 XXL 25/50 Joins RECO Hoist Rental Fleet

As building components continue to increase in size and weight, standard construction hoists often become a limiting factor. Prefabricated façade elements, large cladding panels and palletised glazing units demand more capacity, more space and higher efficiency. When vertical transport slows down, productivity across the site suffers.

The Alimak Scando 650 XXL 25/50 was developed specifically for these challenges. This high-capacity construction hoist is designed for projects where heavy, oversized materials and large crews need to move quickly and reliably. RECO Hoist Hire & Sales supplies this hoist as a proven rental solution for complex and large-scale construction projects throughout the UK.

Applications

Thanks to its dimensions and lifting performance, the Alimak Scando 650 XXL 25/50 is well suited for demanding site conditions:

• High-rise construction: Efficient transport of personnel and large materials such as curtain walling, façade panels and cladding systems to significant heights.

• Commercial and public utility projects: Safe movement of prefabricated components, palletised materials and installation equipment on large-footprint developments.

• Infrastructure and renovation projects: Handling heavy structural elements and machinery on bridges, industrial sites and major refurbishment works.

Key properties

• Internal length up to 5.0 m: Allows long materials such as scaffolding sections, reinforcement bars and full-size façade panels to be transported in one piece, reducing handling time on site.

• Internal width of 2.5 m: Provides sufficient space for bulky and palletised loads. Forklift loading is possible, which speeds up logistics at ground level.

• Payload up to 2,600 kg: Supports heavy single lifts, reducing the number of trips required and helping to lower labour demand and overall transport time.

• Capacity for up to 31 persons: Functions effectively as a combined passenger and material hoist, enabling fast vertical movement of larger work crews.

• Travel speed up to 54 m/min: High lifting speed minimises waiting times on tall structures and supports consistent workflow on high-output projects.

• Maximum lifting height of 150 m: Suitable for most high-rise applications. Greater heights are possible following a site-specific assessment by RECO Hoist's engineering team.
