Kier has been named to the Department for Education's (DfE) new £15bn 2025 Construction Framework (CF25), a national vehicle for building and refurbishing education facilities throughout England.
Spanning six years, CF25 encompasses all education asset types, including schools, universities, and further education and technical colleges. Kier has secured positions on the framework's high-value band for projects worth £12m and above across both the North and South lots, positioning the contractor to deliver major schemes nationwide and engage a broad regional supply chain.
The appointment extends Kier's 18-year collaboration with the DfE and marks the sixth time the business has earned a place on the department's frameworks. The contractor was named Contractor of the Year in both 2024 and 2025 at the Education Estates conference awards, underlining its delivery track record in the sector.
"As a strategic partner to the Department for Education, we are proud to be continuing our collaboration on the new CF25 framework. Our team will continue to draw on nearly 20 years of experience to deliver high-quality, modern, and sustainable education facilities. These projects will not only support teaching staff and enhance learning for students but also create lasting benefits for communities across the country," said Rebecca Boundy, Managing Director, Clients & Markets, Kier Construction.
Kier said its national scale and regional delivery model will be used to support local skills, committing to training and employment opportunities with a focus on apprenticeships, T Levels and upskilling to create career pathways for local people and the supply chain.
The contractor highlighted its education expertise, citing standardisation, digital construction and modern methods of construction, and inclusive design. Its kSchool standardised design approach is intended to align with the latest DfE standards to deliver flexible, cost-effective and future-ready buildings, supporting the government's ambition for safe and sustainable learning environments.
Since 2007, Kier has delivered more than 200 DfE framework projects with a combined value of around £2.75bn, creating over 170,000 pupil places. Recent completions include Deyes High School, Carew Academy, Oak Academy and The Hawthorns & Sir Geoff Hurst SEND schools.
