G F Tomlinson Celebrates Charity Partnership with Treetops Hospice

Regional contractor G F Tomlinson is marking a successful period of collaboration with Treetops Hospice, having delivered a wide array of support initiatives since naming the organisation its charity partner for the year in July 2025.

The partnership has seen staff from across the business engage in various activities to provide both financial aid and practical assistance to the hospice, which serves communities across Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.

The collaboration began in July 2025 with a community project involving students from Nottingham College. Supported by the G F Tomlinson team, students handcrafted eight bird boxes for the hospice. While some were installed immediately to support local wildlife, others were left unpainted, allowing patients at the Bereavement Centre to decorate them as part of a therapeutic creative activity.

Further support was provided during the Treetops Moonlight Walk on 4 September 2025. Four employees from the firm volunteered as route marshals, guiding over 400 participants through 5K and 10K courses in Derby city centre. The event, which began and ended at Derby Market Hall, included a moving tribute at Derby Cathedral where candles were lit in memory of loved ones.

Festive efforts in December included a Christmas Jumper Day and the donation of more than 140 essential care items. Collected across both G F Tomlinson offices, these care packs included toiletries such as lip balms, hand creams, and soft-bristled toothbrushes, as well as bed socks to provide comfort to patients during the winter months.

At the start of 2026, the contractor participated in the Treetops annual 'Treecycling' scheme for the third consecutive year. The initiative involved collecting approximately 1,500 real Christmas trees from local residents in exchange for donations. This year's efforts raised nearly £29,000—a sum capable of funding 268 nights of specialist Hospice at Home nursing care.

Andy Sewards, Chairman and Managing Director at G F Tomlinson, said: "We are incredibly proud of the commitment our teams have shown in supporting Treetops Hospice so far this year. From volunteering at major fundraising events to donating practical items and getting involved in creative community projects, every activity helps make a real difference.

"Treetops provides essential care and compassion to people at the most difficult times in their lives, and we're honoured to play our part in supporting their vital work."

Natalie Godrich, relationship manager, community engagement at Treetops Hospice, added: "The ongoing support from G F Tomlinson has been fantastic and makes a real difference to the people we care for and their families. Whether through volunteering their time, fundraising, or donating much-needed items, their commitment helps us continue providing vital services free of charge to those who need them most. We are incredibly grateful for their continued partnership and support."

G F Tomlinson has confirmed it will continue its support for the charity throughout 2026 with further initiatives planned as part of its social value commitments.
