Construction Under Way At Tŷ Haverfordia

Pembrokeshire County Council has confirmed that building work is now under way on the new Tŷ Haverfordia affordable housing and reablement scheme at the former Haverfordia House site in Haverfordwest.

Delivered by Wynne Construction, the project will provide 26 sheltered apartments for people aged 55 and over, alongside a dedicated 12-bed reablement centre to help residents return home safely after hospital stays.

The development forms part of the Council's ongoing commitment to increase high-quality, accessible homes and to improve modern health and social care support across Pembrokeshire.

Enabling works began on 26 January 2026, including securing the site, establishing a small compound and contractor parking area, introducing controlled access for site personnel, and installing temporary office and welfare facilities.

Pedestrian routes through the area will remain open to maintain safe access to nearby amenities, including the GP surgery and Haverfordwest Leisure Centre.

A minimum number of public parking spaces, including disabled bays, are being retained, and Pay & Display machines have been relocated to minimise disruption.

To accommodate essential contractor welfare needs while keeping as many public spaces as possible, a small section of Rifleman Field is being used during construction. This area will be securely fenced with the footprint kept to a minimum. Any parts of Rifleman Field affected will be fully reinstated on completion and restored to a condition equal to or better than at present.

To keep residents and stakeholders informed, Pembrokeshire Housing Services will host a Community Engagement Drop-in Event on Thursday 19 February 2026, 5pm–7pm, at The Green Room, Haverfordwest Leisure Centre, St Thomas Green, Haverfordwest SA61 1QX. Members of the Housing Services team and project representatives will be available to share information, answer questions and listen to feedback.

Pembrokeshire County Council Cabinet Member for Housing, Cllr Michelle Bateman, said: "I am pleased that we have finally reached the stage of commencing on site and look forward to seeing the development progressing.

"We have been able to progress with the development after receiving much needed Welsh Government grant assistance for both the reablement and housing parts of the development."
