Urban Fox, a partnership between Balfour Beatty Investments and Urban Electric Networks, has been awarded a 20-year programme by Kent County Council to roll out a large-scale network of on-street electric vehicle (EV) chargers across the county.

The initiative forms part of Kent County Council’s strategy to modernise transport and promote low-carbon innovation. Urban Fox aims to install up to 10,000 chargers, prioritising areas where residents have limited access to off-street parking. The project will be delivered in collaboration with district and borough councils to ensure chargers are installed in locations that integrate seamlessly into residential neighbourhoods.

Residents have already submitted over 700 suggested locations for EV chargers, which will be assessed as the roll-out begins.

The launch event featured the Hyundai INSTER, a fully electric vehicle from Stoner Motor Company Medway Hyundai, highlighting the next generation of compact EV design and marking the start of the programme.
