Everlast Group is delighted to announce that its refurbishment of the British Gas Stockport call centre roof has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Liquid Roofing Project of the Year >1000 m² category at the LRWA Awards 2026.
The project involved a full roof replacement across approximately 4,500 m², incorporating complex infrastructure including photovoltaic (PV) panels, air-conditioning units, and extensive M&E services. Despite these challenges, Everlast delivered the project seamlessly and without disruption to the operational call centre, demonstrating meticulous planning and collaborative execution.
To achieve long-term performance and durability, the existing system was replaced with Westwood Weproof 264 Thix, a low-odour liquid waterproofing membrane. A phased and zoned installation strategy enabled temporary relocation of plant equipment and isolation of PV arrays, while maintaining full building operations. Permanent fixed guardrails were installed through the parapet and fully encapsulated within the waterproofing system, ensuring safe, long-term access for maintenance.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Excellence were central to the project:
• Comprehensive risk assessments, safe access routes, and temporary walkways were introduced to mitigate working-at-height hazards and ensure compliance with all regulations.
• Initiatives such as QR-code reporting for hazards, controlled working windows, and supervised multi-person lifts enhanced workforce welfare.
• Environmental considerations included segregated recycling of waste materials, low-VOC membrane selection to protect indoor air quality, and phased working to minimise fuel consumption, noise, and operational impact.
