Several key Middlesbrough routes, including the A66, will face short-term evening and overnight closures over the coming weeks as resurfacing gets under way.

The works will take place during the evenings to reduce disruption, and motorists are asked not to leave vehicles parked on affected stretches so the full carriageway can be treated.

Snowdon Road in Middlehaven is the first to close in two phases this week.

A section between Bridge Street West and the junctions with Washington Street and Brougham Street was shut between 7pm and midnight on 27 and 28 January.

A second section, from the West Street junction to the roundabout with Depot Road and Vulcan Street, will be closed today, Thursday 29 January, during the same hours.

On Friday 30 January, the road linking the Rainbow Leisure Centre and B&M at Coulby Newham will also shut between 7pm and midnight.

Resurfacing of the A66 through the town centre will then begin in two phases.

From Monday 2 February, the eastbound carriageway between the Newport roundabout and the slip road for the Odeon cinema will close from 7.30pm to 6am for five nights.

From Monday 9 February, work shifts to the eastbound stretch between the Riverside Stadium and the through-about at Cargo Fleet Lane for three nights, again between 7.30pm and 6am.

The Greenway in Thorntree, between College Road and the junction with Rainsford Crescent, will close on Friday 13 February, followed by Westerby Road on Monday 16 February. Each will be shut for one night only, from 7pm to midnight.

Signed diversion routes will be in place throughout. All timings are weather dependent, and any postponed works will be re-dated and publicised.
