Persimmon Homes has filed a planning application for 62 new properties in North Yorkshire.

The York-based housebuilder has submitted proposals to North Yorkshire Council for a site in the village of Kellington, south of Selby and just north of the M62.

Ten per cent of the homes would be designated as affordable housing, either to be built and transferred to a registered provider or sold at a discount.

The scheme features a central children's play area, new tree and hedge planting, and two interlinked footpaths running through the development.

The layout is designed to retain views towards the Grade I-listed Church of St Edmund.

Graham Whiteford, Persimmon Yorkshire Planning Director, said: "We are delighted to bring forward these plans for new homes in Kellington.

"New housing is needed and, in these plans, we are hoping to provide affordable, energy efficient homes for first-time buyers and families alike."
