Ridgeline has announced the launch of its new stainless steel Tap Connector, a product designed to address long-standing performance and reliability issues associated with traditional braided tap connectors used across domestic and commercial plumbing installations.
The Ridgeline Tap Connector is manufactured from ultra-flexible 316L corrugated stainless steel and features a full-bore internal diameter, delivering higher flow rates and reduced pressure loss when compared with conventional braided alternatives. Unlike braided connectors, which typically rely on an internal rubber hose, the Ridgeline connector contains no rubber, plastic or polymer liners, eliminating the risk of taste contamination, leaching and long-term material degradation.
The product has been developed by the team behind Flexigas, a UK manufacturer best known for its corrugated stainless steel gas pipe systems. Drawing on extensive experience in CSST design and flexible pipe technology, Ridgeline applies similar engineering principles to potable water applications, with a focus on durability, hygiene and installation efficiency.
Braided tap connectors have become a default solution within the industry due to their low cost and ease of installation, but are widely recognised as a weak point within plumbing systems. Internal bore restriction, susceptibility to kinking, fraying of external braids and premature failure under pressure are common issues, particularly in tight cabinet spaces or high-use environments.
Ridgeline’s Tap Connector has been designed to remove these risks. The corrugated stainless steel construction is kink-resistant and maintains a consistent internal bore even when bent around obstacles. This ensures reliable performance over the lifetime of the installation and removes the need for replacement due to mechanical failure.
The absence of rubber or plastic components also supports improved water quality. With increasing scrutiny around microplastics, taste and odour contamination, and long-term hygiene in potable water systems, the Ridgeline connector offers a solution aligned with modern expectations for clean water delivery.
Installation speed has also been prioritised. The connector offers flexibility comparable to braided hoses while removing the need for hot works associated with copper pipework. This makes it suitable for new-build, retrofit and commercial installations where speed, safety and consistency are critical.
The Ridgeline Tap Connector is WRAS and KIWA approved and is available in a range of common connection sizes, including 15mm, 22mm, ½” and ¾”, with multiple end configurations to suit typical UK plumbing systems. Length options range from 300mm to 500mm, covering the majority of standard tap connection requirements.
Ridgeline positions the Tap Connector as a long-term alternative to both braided hoses and copper tails, combining the speed of flexible connectors with the performance and longevity expected from stainless steel systems.
The product is available now through selected distributors and merchant partners across the UK. Further information is available at ridgelinetubes.com.
