A major new housing development has moved a step closer after Halton Borough Council granted planning approval for a scheme off Hale Gate Road.

Housebuilder Keepmoat has committed to investing more than £116 million in the development, which will deliver 500 new homes on the site. At least 20 per cent of the homes will be provided in partnership with a housing provider to offer a range of affordable housing options. The plans also include future provision for a local centre and land safeguarded for a new primary school.

The development will transform land previously used for grazing and will incorporate a range of community and environmental improvements. Alongside the new homes, Keepmoat will deliver open green spaces, enhancements to local footpaths and cycleways, and work with nearby schools, colleges and businesses as part of its community engagement approach.

In addition to the construction programme, Keepmoat is working with Halton Adult Learning Centre, Hale Bank Primary School and Riverside College to raise awareness of careers in construction. As part of its community involvement, pupils from the primary school have also been invited to take part in a competition to help decide the name of the new development.
