Winvic Construction Ltd has exceeded its social value commitments during the delivery of the second phase of Prologis Park at Beddington Lane in Croydon, South London.

The main contractor, which specialises in the design and delivery of private and public sector construction and civil engineering projects, worked in alignment with real estate logistics provider Prologis’ Social Value Charter to deliver a comprehensive Employment and Skills Plan. This was developed in collaboration with Sutton Council, Sutton and District Training, and the South London Careers Hub.

Through its partnership with Prologis and the London Borough of Sutton, Winvic surpassed its Section 106 Employment and Skills obligations, delivering a wide range of initiatives aimed at creating meaningful and lasting benefits for the local community.

The Prologis Park Beddington Lane expansion comprises four low-carbon logistics units totalling more than 110,640 sq. ft. The development includes 97,105 sq. ft of warehouse space and 13,535 sq. ft of modern office accommodation, built to BREEAM Excellent and EPC A+ standards.

Winvic exceeded its training and skills targets by hosting 11 work insight sessions—83% above target—as well as seven site visits. These sessions included six engagements with learners from Sutton and District Training to promote awareness of construction careers and skills pathways. Two tailored construction and sensory sessions were also delivered for SEN learners at Greenholm School, providing inclusive and engaging experiences for young people with additional learning needs.

Additional engagement activities included support for a speed networking event at Harris Academy Sutton, where students interviewed members of the site team, and an employer talk delivered during a site visit involving representatives from the London Borough of Sutton Council. This engagement resulted in one student completing a work experience placement with Winvic. Mock interviews were also delivered at Greenshaw School to help Year 12 students prepare for future employment.

Winvic also coordinated apprenticeships and work placements, including the recruitment of a local Civil Engineering apprentice directly onto the Beddington Lane site, who continues to train with the company on another project. A second local Civil Engineering apprentice, engaged through shared apprenticeship provider Co-Train, successfully secured employment with Winvic to continue her apprenticeship.

Beyond education and employment initiatives, Winvic supported a range of charity and community organisations. These included social enterprise Hey Girls, site signage provider Nuneaton Signs—which provides employment opportunities for people with disabilities—and the Daniel Baird Foundation. As part of its support, Winvic donated a publicly accessible bleeding control pack for the local community.

The quality and impact of the social value programme have been formally recognised, with Beddington Lane receiving a Silver National Site Award from the Considerate Constructors Scheme. The project achieved an exceptional score of 44 out of 45, including a best practice point.
