Kier Secures Place On British Airways Tier 1 Framework

Kier has been selected for British Airways' new Tier 1 contractor framework, created to help the airline's Property Team deliver its multi-million-pound Better Buildings programme.

The agreement will run for an initial three years with an option to extend by a further two. It will mainly cover British Airways' extensive estate at Heathrow, with scope to undertake projects at other key UK locations.

Planned works could include upgrades at LHR Operations East and West, such as aircraft stand refurbishments with lighting improvements, road enhancements and drainage and remedial works. The scope may also encompass hangar conversions and reconfiguration of aircraft docking structures, power and wider infrastructure to accommodate new aircraft types; upgrades to nose-in and other docking facilities; and infrastructure improvements across individual Technical Blocks and cargo buildings, including glazing, cladding and roof replacements.

The Better Buildings programme aims to provide fit-for-purpose and inspiring workplaces, enhance resilience to support operations, and create a safer, more sustainable and energy-efficient estate. It will also support wider BA initiatives, including the entry into service of new aircraft types from 2028/29.

Mandy Duncan, managing director of Rail & Aviation at Kier Infrastructure, said: "We are exceptionally pleased to be working with British Airways to support its Better Buildings programme and collaborative framework. As the portfolio covers the depth and breadth of what Kier has to offer, it really has been about bringing our Kier 360 approach in our offering to British Airways. We will be working with teams from across the Group to deliver works as the portfolio develops. British Airways is a key client for us in the aviation space and there are very exciting times ahead."
