Story Homes Expands Partnership With South Lakes Housing At Millfields Development

Story Homes has strengthened its partnership with South Lakes Housing (SLH) through the sale of 29 affordable homes at its Millfields development in Ulverston, where construction work has recently begun.

The Millfields scheme will deliver a total of 111 new homes, with 35% of the development allocated as affordable housing to help address local housing needs across the area.

The latest agreement builds on an established collaboration between Story Homes and South Lakes Housing. To date, Story Homes has transferred 89 affordable homes to SLH, including one- to three-bedroom properties at Brigsteer Rise in Kendal, Laurel Place in Ulverston and Fellside Manor in Endmoor.

At Millfields, the 29 homes being delivered to South Lakes Housing will include 20 affordable rent properties and nine shared ownership homes. These units will form a substantial element of the development's overall affordable housing provision and underline the continued strength of the partnership.

Adam McNally, Senior Land and Planning Manager for Story Homes in Cumbria & Scotland, said: "We are pleased to be delivering 29 affordable homes at Millfields as part of a development that will provide 111 new homes in total. Millfields demonstrates our commitment to creating high-quality homes that meet the area’s housing needs across both private and affordable tenures, while continuing our strong partnership with South Lakes Housing."

Josh Allington, Development Manager at South Lakes Housing, said: "These 29 new affordable homes at Millfields will provide local people with real opportunities to access high-quality, energy-efficient housing through both affordable rent and shared ownership. Our ongoing partnership with Story Homes, which has already delivered 89 homes across South Cumbria, ensures that we can continue to respond to housing need and offer sustainable, well-designed homes for those who need them most."
