Persimmon Homes Severn Valley has reported major progress on Airfield Primary Academy, the new school being built within the Haywood Village development in Weston-super-Mare, which is scheduled to open in September 2026.

Located on the former Weston Airfield, the school will offer modern educational and community facilities, including:

• 21 classrooms and a 103-place nursery

• A community hub with grass sports pitches, an artificial turf pitch, a multi-use games area, changing facilities and studio spaces

• Sustainable features including solar panels and air-source heat pumps

The project is being delivered by Persimmon Homes and Willmott Dixon to specifications set by North Somerset Council and the Cabot Learning Federation, reflecting a focus on high-quality community infrastructure.

Airfield Primary Academy forms a central part of the wider Haywood Village scheme, which will provide 2,500 homes and associated amenities, bringing much-needed school places and sports facilities to the doorstep of the growing community.

Applications for reception-aged pupils starting in September 2026 must be submitted to North Somerset Council by 15 January 2026.

To ensure pupils can begin learning in 2026 if the main building is not ready for the start of term, proposals have been submitted for temporary classroom provision.
