Work to transform Spotswood into a new pocket park has begun, marking an early milestone for the Gleadless Valley regeneration in 2026.

Contractor Horticon has arrived to start preparations for the hillside scheme.

Spotswood runs down from Holy Cross Church between Spotswood Mount at the top and Spotswood Road and Spotswood Place at the bottom.

The upgraded green space will build on the panoramic views across Sheffield and Gleadless Valley, with natural play features and public art created in partnership with nearby residents.

A naturalistic approach will be used, including new trees, flower meadows, natural stone and subtle reshaping of the land to bring the area to life.

The park will provide generous room for informal play and a welcoming place for neighbours to meet, socialise and host community events.

Horticon moved on site on Monday (5th January) to prepare for the works, which are due to complete by the summer.
