Yorkshire Water will launch a £1.2 million scheme in the new year to replace almost 2km of clean water mains on Bennett Lane in Dewsbury, strengthening the reliability and resilience of the local supply network.

The ageing mains will be replaced with durable, flexible plastic pipes to improve the consistency of drinking water supplies, cut leakage and reduce the likelihood of future bursts.

Project manager Shaun Champman said: "This project is part of Yorkshire Water’s £406m investment to replace more than 1,000km of water mains across the region over the next five years.

"Our contract partners Galliford Try, will start work at Bennett Lane on Monday 19 January and is one of a number of projects to replace over 30km of clean water main in the WF postcode over the next two years."

The company is contacting local residents and businesses to share updates on progress and planned activity.
