Persimmon Homes Suffolk has completed the latest phase of affordable housing at the Boyton Place development in Haverhill, with families set to move in ahead of Christmas.
To mark the milestone, West Suffolk MP Nick Timothy visited as the homes were handed over to Orbit Homes.
During the visit, the MP toured new shared ownership properties designed to offer residents with strong local ties to West Suffolk a lower-cost path to home ownership in partnership with Orbit, typically supporting first-time buyers and young families.
Across this year, 53 homes have been transferred to the registered provider: 29 for shared ownership and 24 for social rent for households on West Suffolk Council’s housing waiting list.
Kelvin O'Dwyer- Heath, Head of Construction for Persimmon Homes Suffolk, said: "This year 53 local families who were unable to buy on the open market will be spending their first Christmas in their new homes.
"We're committed to working closely with our housing association partners, such as Orbit, and West Suffolk Council to deliver high-quality new homes to meet local demand and ensure families have a safe place to call home."
Brian Nearney, Chief Development Officer at Orbit, said: "We are delighted to be working in partnership with Persimmon to deliver a range of quality, modern apartments and houses at Boyton Place in Haverhill.
"Were proud to be delivering these homes in a mix of affordable tenures that support the local housing need and we're very excited to welcome the residents into their new homes.
"Boyton Place is one of several developments we’re currently delivering alongside Persimmon in the east, continuing our shared commitment and investment to bringing much-needed new affordable homes to the region."
Once fully built out, Boyton Place will provide 1,034 homes in north-west Haverhill, together with two play areas, a multi-use games area, allotments and a local centre with retail facilities, plus the 1.8km new road now known as Suffolk Regiment Way.
