SJ Roberts Construction Ltd has completed and handed over a new activity centre to Condover College (CCL) in Bings Heath, near Shrewsbury, designed specifically to support adults with learning disabilities.
Designed by Berrys, the £2m project expands day opportunities for people aged 18 and over with moderate to severe learning disabilities, profound and multiple learning difficulties, and additional complex needs. The centre welcomed its first service users on Monday 8 June 2026.
The single-storey facility includes a variety of activity rooms, a training kitchen, care amenities and landscaped outdoor sensory areas, creating a modern, accessible environment intended to support users for many years to come.
Mike Sambrook, managing director at SJ Roberts Construction, said: "We are proud to have delivered this important facility for Condover College. From the outset, it was clear how significant the new activity centre would be for the people who use its services, and it has been a privilege to play a part in bringing that vision to life. Throughout the project, we developed an excellent working relationship with Condover College and their design team, working collaboratively to ensure the facility met the needs of its users while achieving the highest standards of quality and design."
Steve Latham, head of building surveying at Berrys, added: "Working on this project has been a genuinely rewarding and collaborative experience. We were delighted to provide planning, architecture, civil engineering and building surveying consultancy to achieve Condover Colleges' vision. Their commitment to creating a facility that genuinely supports and enhances the lives of the people they work with has been inspiring. It has been a privilege to help realise a scheme that will deliver lasting, positive impact for the people Condover College supports."
Vikki Pryce, chief executive of Condover College, said: "The completion of our new activity centre marks a significant milestone for us as an organisation and for the people we support. Having access to a purpose-built facility will enable us to broaden the range of activities, learning opportunities and life skills we can offer in a safe, accessible and inspiring environment.
"Complete with a bike track and outdoor seating areas, the centre provides a welcoming setting that will help us deliver even more enriching experiences for the learners we support.
"We'd like to thank SJ Roberts Construction and Berrys for their professionalism and commitment throughout the project. We are excited to begin using the new centre and to see the positive impact it will have on the lives of those who attend."
