Pulse Consult Completes First Phase Of Warwick Hospital Redevelopment

Construction consultancy Pulse Consult has completed the first phase of a major redevelopment at Warwick Hospital, delivering a fully refurbished main entrance that enhances both patient accessibility and staff experience.

Located on Lakin Road, the hospital's new main entrance has been transformed into a modern, welcoming space with improved food and retail facilities for patients, visitors and staff. The redesigned ground floor now includes a multi-functional layout featuring the main reception, outpatient pharmacy, patient advice and liaison service (PALS), a ‘Changing Places’ facility and a new charity hub.

The works form part of a wider redevelopment programme led by Pulse Consult, appointed through the South Warwickshire University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (SWFT) Framework to provide project management services. The firm has worked closely with SWFT and developer Noviniti to ensure smooth and safe delivery within a live hospital environment.

Adrian Thomas, associate director at Pulse Consult, said: "Reaching this milestone is a testament to the dedication and expertise of everyone involved. Delivering a new main entrance and fully fitted ground floor within a live hospital environment presented significant challenges - from diverting existing data infrastructure to decanting multiple departments and managing a major deconstruction and rebuild. Through effective stakeholder engagement and strong collaboration, these complexities were successfully managed.

"We're proud to have supported our client, South Warwickshire University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, in bringing this transformational space to life, providing modern, accessible amenities for patients, visitors, and staff."

The upper floors of the new building, expected to open in winter 2026/27, will accommodate two new hospital wards with treatment rooms, waiting areas and clinic spaces.

Phase Two of the Trust's redevelopment plans will then commence, focusing on increasing clinical capacity, improving patient experience and supporting same-day recovery following surgical procedures.

Built to a BREEAM Excellent standard, the scheme demonstrates a strong commitment to sustainability, boosting environmental performance and energy efficiency—an approach set to continue into the next phase of development.

Tom Howells, board director and national healthcare lead at Pulse Consult, said: "Driving transformation and building strong partnerships within the healthcare sector are central to Pulse’s growth ambitions. The successful delivery of Phase One is more than just a project milestone - it reinforces our national strategic direction in healthcare and lays the foundation for delivering long-term value and measurable improvements in patient care."
