United Infrastructure has secured two major contracts worth a combined £14 million with Bromsgrove District Housing Trust (bdht), aimed at improving, refurbishing and decarbonising social housing across the Midlands.

bdht, which manages around 4,000 affordable homes in Bromsgrove and nearby areas, is focused on delivering sustainable, high-quality housing that meets the needs of local residents.

The first contract, valued at approximately £10 million, will see United Infrastructure implement large-scale retrofit and decarbonisation works across bdht's housing stock. The initial phase will upgrade more than 500 homes, with the potential to extend improvements to as many as 1,000 properties over the life of the programme. Work begins immediately and will run for two years, with the option to extend. The initiative will help ensure all bdht homes reach at least an EPC rating of C by 2030.

Measures will include improvements that boost thermal performance, cut carbon emissions and reduce heating costs for residents. The project will also tackle persistent issues such as damp and mould, contributing to better health and wellbeing for tenants.

United Infrastructure has also been awarded a second contract worth £4 million to deliver planned refurbishment works, procured via the Procurement for Housing (PfH) Framework. Scheduled to begin in November 2025 and complete by March 2026, the programme will include new kitchens and bathrooms, upgraded boilers and heating systems, window and door replacements, and roofing renewals.

Both organisations will work closely to ensure high-quality delivery, with a strong emphasis on social value. This will include new employment and training opportunities, support for bdht’s liaison teams, and a neighbourhood-focused approach designed to maximise benefits for residents across all tenures.
