St William has received a resolution to grant planning permission from the London Borough of Newham's Strategic Development Committee for the first phase of its Beckton Riverside project, subject to the signing of a Section 106 agreement.

The committee approved full planning permission for a comprehensive package of enabling and remediation works, which are essential before residential development can begin. In addition, outline planning permission was granted for the residential element of the project, which will deliver 2,900 new homes, a 5-acre riverside park, high-quality open spaces, and a mix of commercial and community uses.

The 30-acre site, part of the former Beckton Gasworks, has remained largely derelict since the 1960s. The regeneration scheme aims to transform the riverside area into a sustainable, vibrant new neighbourhood in East London.

The result of this partnership would include 2,900 new homes, high-quality community facilities, a riverside park, and a network of welcoming public spaces, including a new stretch of Thames riverside that has been fenced off for generations.
