DC01UK has announced the sale of its South Mimms data centre site in Hertfordshire to Equinix, one of the world's largest data centre operators.

The transaction, valued at approximately £3.9 billion, is one of the largest infrastructure and real estate deals globally in recent years.

The 85-acre site, now rebranded as the Hertfordshire Campus by Equinix, is set to become one of Europe's largest and most advanced data centre campuses. The development will deliver over two million square feet of high-specification data centre space, designed to support growing demand for cloud, storage, and AI-powered services.

The sale underscores the strategic execution of DC01UK’s vision, achieved through collaboration with experts, government bodies, and careful planning. Once operational, the campus is expected to support thousands of skilled jobs across the UK digital supply chain and contribute significantly to the national economy.

The transaction also highlights the UK's increasing role in global digital infrastructure investment, following the Government’s designation of data centres as Critical National Infrastructure last year.
