£520,000 Water Network Upgrade Underway In Kerridge

United Utilities has begun work on a £520,000 project to modernise the water network in Kerridge.

The first phase of the project, which starts today (27 October), will see engineers replace more than 650 metres of ageing water pipes along Higher Lane. The new mains are designed to withstand high pressure and temperature fluctuations, helping to protect against bursts and ensure a stronger, more resilient water system for local residents.

A second phase of the scheme is scheduled to begin in 2026, which will upgrade an additional 1.05 kilometres of pipework as part of the wider improvement programme.

Rob Moore, County Business Lead for Water in Cheshire, explained: "Unfortunately there has been a history of water bursts in this area so we have prioritised this project as one of the first to be delivered through our £380m mains replacement programme.

"These new water mains are expected to last for more than 100 years and will help protect against bursts and reduce leaks in the future.

"They will play an important role in making our water network more robust and help us deliver a reliable water supply to customers in Kerridge for decades to come."

The works are being carried out by Network Plus on behalf of United Utilities and are expected to be completed early in the new year. The project covers the stretch of Higher Lane from the junction with Oak Lane through to Windmill Lane.
