Galliford Try has started construction on a major mental health project for the Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust, which will see the transformation of existing Section 136 suites into a new centralised health-based place of safety.

The scheme involves the conversion and refurbishment of an existing building to create a facility that brings services together under one roof and expands capacity to provide enhanced care and support for people experiencing mental health crises across the region.

Delivered under the NHS ProCure23 framework, the project is being developed using Galliford Try’s Millimetres Matter design standard, which ensures high-quality, consistent delivery across mental health environments. The new facility will be built to medium secure standards, with careful consideration given to external areas and safe access and exit routes.
