Birmingham City Council has given the green light to an outline planning application for the large-scale regeneration of Druids Heath, paving the way for the creation of a sustainable new community featuring around 3,500 homes.

The approved plans outline a vision for a vibrant neighbourhood with high-quality green spaces, modern infrastructure, improved transport links, and revitalised commercial and community areas.

A key focus of the regeneration is affordability. The council has pledged to deliver 1,785 affordable homes with 400 of these to be provided as social rented properties. The remaining affordable homes will be developed in partnership with the appointed developer and Homes England.

The proposals also include homes for private sale and specially designed properties for older residents, as well as new community and sports facilities. A new high street is also planned, serving as the central hub of the redeveloped area.

This latest milestone follows the announcement last month that Lovell had been selected as the preferred developer for the Druids Heath scheme. The council and Lovell are now working on a formal partnership agreement, expected to be finalised in spring 2026.

Once signed, the agreement will define the roles and responsibilities of both parties, marking the final step before construction begins on one of Birmingham’s most ambitious regeneration projects.
