Plans Submitted For 1,000-Home Development In Leominster

Richborough has submitted a planning application for a major new neighbourhood in the historic market town of Leominster, proposing around 1,000 new homes alongside a range of community facilities.

The plans aim to create a residential development that builds on the town's legacy and character. Developed following extensive consultation with local stakeholders, the scheme is set to help deliver one of Herefordshire Council's key residential allocations.

The proposals include:

• Around 1,000 high-quality homes in a mix of types, sizes and tenures

• A new local centre with a Community Hub and school

• Extensive green spaces, including woodlands, wildflower meadows, play areas and allotments

• New cycle and pedestrian links connecting the development with the Western parcel, Baron’s Cross Road, and existing parts of Leominster

• A tree-lined link road between Hereford Road and Baron’s Cross Road

• Distinctive architecture and design to create an attractive new gateway into the town

The plans form part of the wider proposed Sustainable Urban Extension (SUE) to the south-west of Leominster, which will deliver around 1,600 new homes supported by a new relief road.

Joe Jones, Regional Director at Richborough, said: "I'm excited to have submitted this application following many years of land promotion work by our internal team and external multi-disciplinary consultants led by Pegasus.

"This will be a well-connected and highly sustainable, landscape-led new neighbourhood that will provide much needed new homes and facilities for people at every stage of life.

"We're looking forward to working closely with Herefordshire Council and consultees as the application progresses and hope to ultimately to bringing the site to market for a high-quality development partner."

Bidwells acted on behalf of the landowner.
