Local Builders Called To Help Deliver Home Adaptations For Disabled Residents

Peterborough City Council is inviting construction firms from across the city and nearby areas to a special procurement event aimed at finding contractors to deliver home adaptations for residents with disabilities.

The initiative seeks to invest council funds and Government grants directly into the local economy by prioritising businesses that operate in Peterborough and employ local people.

The event will take place on Friday 17 October, from 10am to 12.30pm at Sand Martin House, Fletton Quays. Council staff will be on hand to answer questions, with an opportunity for networking at the end of the session.

Local builders interested in taking part can book a place by calling 01733 863895, or simply drop in on the day without prior booking.

The council is looking to work with a range of providers, but would especially welcome local tradespeople from small to medium sized businesses in the Peterborough and surrounding areas who are:

• Competent in carrying out some, or all, of the following adaptations: Creating showers/wet rooms, ramps, wider doorways, kitchen adaptations, small extension works and sometimes an internal reconfiguration of homes

• Able to adhere to safeguarding requests and considerations, including DBS checks

• Have been an established business involved in construction for a number of years, or newer ventures which are otherwise able to demonstrate their relevant professional and technical competency

• With no criminal record

Later in the month, an invitation to tender will be published which those attending and all other interested organisations will be able to bid for.
