McLaren Construction Midlands And North Strengthens Leadership Team

McLaren Construction Midlands and North has announced a series of key leadership appointments and promotions as the business continues to expand its regional presence and deliver a diverse portfolio of major projects across the UK.

The strengthened leadership team marks a significant step in McLaren's long-term growth strategy, supporting its ambitions for market diversification, operational excellence, and continued success in the industrial and logistics sectors while broadening into new markets.

Adrian Barnes has rejoined the company as Regional Strategic Director, a newly created role focused on driving diversification, enhancing framework engagement, and supporting two-stage procurement and public sector opportunities. Adrian brings extensive experience in complex public-sector projects and local authority collaboration, aligning with McLaren’s ambition to strengthen and expand beyond its core markets.

Several internal promotions also highlight McLaren's commitment to nurturing and recognising talent from within. Luke Arnold has been promoted to Regional Director, working alongside Managing Director Gary Cramp to lead the Midlands and North business. Since joining last year, Luke has played a pivotal role in managing key projects and supporting the region's continued growth.

Further promotions include Guy Smith as Commercial Director, recognised for his success in client relationship development and commercial growth; Joel Casstles and Paul Johnson as Operations Directors, both bringing extensive experience in leading high-performing delivery teams. These appointments strengthen McLaren’s regional capability and reinforce its focus on leadership excellence and people development.

At the project delivery level, Harry Marles has been promoted to Senior Quantity Surveyor, John Hobson to Managing Quantity Surveyor, and Jonathan McGarry, Lee Brown, and Oliver Cramp to Senior Site Managers, further bolstering operational strength across the region.

Reflecting McLaren's investment in emerging talent, Trainee Planner and apprentice Tommy Bordicott has been shortlisted for a national award, showcasing the company's ongoing commitment to developing the next generation of construction professionals.

The Midlands and North region continues to deliver high-profile schemes across industrial and logistics, student accommodation, and retail, with recent completions including Project Phoenix, Box Four at Manchester Airport, Omega West, Matrix 49 Plot 3, Longwood Place, Talbot Street, Horizon 29 Phase 2, and St Gabriel’s — a flagship student accommodation development. Around 85% of current projects are now delivered through repeat business.

Ongoing work includes major developments for TJ Morris and Panattoni, the Birmingham England Temple, and the redevelopment of Wrexham AFC. The team is also progressing the Matrix 49 Plot 4 scheme in Avonmouth, while expanding its expertise in the multi-room sector, having delivered 2,200 student rooms to date and constructing a further 1,374.

Looking ahead, McLaren's regional growth strategy will focus on expanding its reach across frameworks and public sector procurement, while maintaining leadership in industrial and logistics delivery. The approach complements McLaren Group’s national growth ambitions, which are underpinned by strong year-end results and a robust secured pipeline.

Adrian Barnes, Regional Strategic Director, said: "I'm excited to rejoin McLaren Construction in a region that's already performing exceptionally well, but also has huge untapped potential. My focus is to support the team in building on this foundation, bringing in opportunities through frameworks and tapping into wider public sector pipelines, while continuing to deliver the high-quality projects McLaren is known for."
