Galliford Try Building East Midlands has been awarded a £12.8 million contract by the Department for Education (DfE) to deliver a major redevelopment of Spon Gate Primary School in Coventry.

The project will see the existing school replaced with a new one-form entry building, alongside the refurbishment of the locally listed Spon Gate building, which will be transformed to provide facilities for pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and those requiring additional support within a mainstream setting.

The new school will achieve Net Zero Carbon in Operation (NZCiO) status. This aligns with Spon Gate's 'learning for life' ethos, providing an environmentally responsible learning environment that aims to inspire pupils to value sustainability from an early age.

Located near Coventry city centre, the site sits within a conservation area and an area of archaeological interest, requiring close collaboration with local planners and heritage officers to ensure the scheme remains sensitive to the city's historic character.
