Work has officially begun on a new £10 million building for Peterchurch Primary School, marking a major milestone in the transformation of education provision in Herefordshire's Golden Valley.

The redevelopment, funded by Herefordshire Council, will expand the school’s capacity from 105 to 140 pupils to meet the needs of the growing village community.

Designed with inclusivity at its core, the new facility will feature a dedicated nurture hub to support children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). The hub will provide a safe, supportive environment that reflects the school’s ethos of care and community.

Following a competitive tender process, Tilbury Douglas has been appointed to deliver the state-of-the-art building. The UK contractor will lead construction through to completion, with the new school expected to open in autumn 2026.

The project represents a significant investment in rural education and will provide modern, high-quality learning facilities for generations to come.
