Firethorn has appointed HG Construction to deliver a new purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) scheme in Hackney Wick, East London.
The development, part of the Firethorn Living portfolio, will provide 204 student bedrooms, with 35% designated as affordable accommodation. Amenities will include co-working study areas, common rooms, private dining space, a gym, and two outdoor roof terraces.
Alongside the student housing, the project will incorporate approximately 1,400 sq. m. of affordable and incubator workspace in partnership with a local community interest group, supporting the area's creative industries.
The scheme is located on the site of the former Broadwood piano factory and will preserve the historic brick chimney dating back to 1902. Designed with sustainability in mind, the project is targeting a BREEAM "Excellent" rating.
Positioned within a 15-minute walk of University of the Arts London and UCL East, the new accommodation will be well connected to nearby academic institutions, as well as the area's range of restaurants, bars and shopping centres.
Work on the site is set to begin immediately, with completion scheduled for the 2027/28 academic year.
