The Hill Group Marks Completion Of Knights Park With Celebration At Eddington

Housebuilder The Hill Group has marked the successful completion of its flagship Knights Park development in Eddington with a stakeholder celebration at The Icon, the final phase of the project.

The event brought together civic leaders, representatives from the University of Cambridge, architects, and development partners to celebrate a scheme more than a decade in the making. Guests of honour included His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire, Mrs Julie Spence, who addressed attendees alongside Andy Hill OBE, founder and Group Chief Executive of The Hill Group.

Reflecting on the milestone, Andy Hill OBE said: "This marks the end of construction here at Knights Park. It's a time to look back and reflect on the journey we’ve been on to get here and now, look to the future. In partnership with the University of Cambridge, we've created a new place where families have set down roots, new friendships have blossomed and a legacy will endure. Together, we’ve not just built homes, we've created a sustainable new neighbourhood with all the ingredients to foster a healthy and connected community, and that is something we can all be proud of."

Knights Park forms a central part of the University of Cambridge's vision for Eddington, a sustainable new district for the city. The development comprises 563 homes, alongside an Ofsted-rated Outstanding primary school, nursery, supermarket, hotels, shops, cafés, and the award-winning Storey's Field Centre. More than 50 hectares of green space and sports facilities surround the neighbourhood, which also features cycling and pedestrian routes connecting residents directly to Cambridge city centre.

The scheme has won multiple accolades for design and sustainability, including the Housing Design Award for the UK's most sustainable residential development, a RIBA Award for architecture, and the Evening Standard New Homes Eco-Living Award. Judges have commended Knights Park for its energy-efficient infrastructure, innovative rainwater harvesting and drainage systems, and its distinctive architectural quality.
