STRABAG UK has been awarded the contract to deliver the Strategic Rail Freight Interchange (SRFI) at SEGRO Logistics Park Radlett, a project that will transform freight transport in the region.

The development, on the site of the former Radlett Aerodrome in Hertfordshire, will include a state-of-the-art rail freight terminal, extensive distribution warehouses, and more than 600 acres of enhanced green space.

The scheme is designed to shift the movement of goods from road to rail, cutting carbon emissions and easing congestion on local and national road networks. Construction is expected to span the next three years.

Alongside its transport benefits, the project also promises significant community and environmental gains. These include biodiversity net gain, new employment and training opportunities, and integrated transport improvements.
