Lovell Chosen To Lead Multi-Million Druids Heath Regeneration

Birmingham City Council has named Lovell as the preferred developer to deliver the major regeneration of Druids Heath, a scheme set to transform the area with new homes, green spaces and community facilities.

The project will create around 3,500 new homes, alongside improved transport links, new infrastructure, and revitalised commercial and community spaces. A key element of the development is the council’s pledge to deliver around 1,800 affordable homes—representing 51% of the total—with 400 of these earmarked for social rent.

Plans also include housing for sale, specialist homes designed for people later in life, a new high street at the heart of the community, as well as community and sports facilities.

An outline planning application for the scheme was submitted in March. The council and Lovell are now working on a partnership agreement to set out delivery obligations, with the deal expected to be signed in spring 2026. This will be the final step before regeneration work begins.

Cllr Brennan, Cabinet Member for Housing and Homelessness, said: "I am delighted to announce that the council has selected Lovell as the preferred developer for the regeneration of Druids Heath.

"This is a landmark moment for the residents of Druids Heath and for Birmingham. It brings us another step closer to delivering on the plan to regenerate the area that we have spent two years working with the community to develop.

"The regeneration will not only deliver thousands of high-quality, energy-efficient homes, we are also committed to ensuring that more than half of them will be affordable – helping to meet the urgent housing needs of our residents.

"This regeneration is about building a sustainable, greener, and more connected community for generations to come."
