Construction is set to begin next year on a major new secondary school in Bristol after GRAHAM was appointed by the Department for Education (DfE) to deliver the project.
The new Oasis Academy Temple Quarter will be built in the heart of the city’s Temple Quarter regeneration area and will provide places for 1,600 pupils. The state-of-the-art school aims to meet rising demand for high-quality education facilities in East Bristol while also serving as a lasting community hub.
Plans for the 12,182m² development include a purpose-built main school building alongside the sensitive restoration of a listed structure, known locally as the boiler shop, which will be repurposed into a sports hall. The scheme also forms part of a wider masterplan for the area, which will deliver new homes, commercial space, research and enterprise facilities, and student accommodation on surrounding plots.
The academy has been designed with a focus on creating an inspiring and inclusive learning environment, balancing cutting-edge teaching facilities with spaces that prioritise student wellbeing and community connection.
Construction is due to start in September 2025 with the school expected to open its doors in September 2027.
